Good real for not so big fish

I bought two of these reels as I am a big Shimano fan. I also have a symetre that I love so I figured these would be alright. That was until I hooked a 10 pound steelhead in rough current and the fish TRASHED to reel. I kid you not, the drag stopped working and the gears were broke. I love it for casting and fishing all other fish, but big steelhead are tough on this sonora. I replaced it with another and we'll see how it works. I always use 20 pound power pro line.
Going for big tough fish? Use a better reel.

Good reel for the $

I bought this reel to use on a bass rod and it has performed very well for the price. Is it as smooth as the big dollar reels-no. But in it's $$ category it is a very nice reel. I have landed virtually all of Wisconsin's game and panfish with this reel and have been very happy with it.

Helped me win the big ten tourney

On the prev fish day of the big ten tournament my old reel tanked out, so i went out and bought the Sonora SON2500FB, and paired it with 10 lb. mono and my berkley lightning rod. I had a fantastic day of fishing and my boat partner and I pulled in our limit and ended up winning the tournament. I even pulled out a 2.5 lb. smally with no trouble at all even though that fish hit like a hammer. The casting is amazing and everything is incredibly smooth.
A great reel for the price.

I have a model 4000 sonora and it is one of the best reels i had. Its really smooth and has a strong drag.
I like this reel more than the sahara and symetre.
Cool color too.
